Kaymer Targets Return To Form

Martin Kaymer returns to the scene the scene of one of his most emotional victories this week when he tees it up at the BMW International Open as he continues his preparation for the British Open in July.

Kaymer became the first German to win the tournament on home soil, after defeating Anders Hansen in a play-off at Golfclub Munchen Eichenried, only weeks before his mother passed away.

Since that tearful win, Kaymer has gone from strength to strength earning a Ryder Cup debut, as well as winning his first Major title at the 2010 USPGA Championship. Kaymer’s consistent form even saw him reach the world Number one spot earlier this year, a position he held for two months. Those looking at The Open 2011 golf betting will be keen to see what kind of form he is in now.

The 26-year-old had a disappointing US Open campaign, restricted by constant problems in his normally flawless driving and is will be hoping to correct the problem ahead of this week’s tournament and anyone following The Open golf betting should keep an eye him. The German finished 36th at Congressional on a course many believed he would excel on but couldn’t get his game together but knows what he must correct to be successful this week and in the future.

“I just couldn’t get my driving going last week,” said Kaymer. “Usually I’m hitting it longer than the other guys so I’m one or two clubs less but I just couldn’t last week. If you are hitting longer clubs you can’t make the birdies.”

Kaymer will head to the Open at St George’s as one of the favourites due to his ability to regularly hit fairways and hole putts under pressure, a must for any Major championship especially the Open and will approach the tournament knowing that he has both the temperament and the game to hold his nerve at the sharp end of a Major Championship.
