Kaymer Out To Put Things Right At Augusta

World number one Martin Kaymer will head to Augusta next month, looking to vastly improve a Masters record that reads three missed cuts from three appearances. The German will surely have a better time of things this time around, after a year in which the 26-year old has shot up to the top of the world rankings with a string of impressive wins.

Last year saw the German notch up his first major win at the PGA Championships alongside three tour titles. Kaymer has carried on his momentum this season, picking up his third Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship in record breaking fashion, finishing the tournament 24-under par to make it a hat-trick of titles at the Middle Eastern tournament. The best US Masters betting odds suggest he could challenge at the first major of the year.

Kaymer seems at ease with his new position at the top of the rankings and hasn’t succumbed to the pressure which it brings; which some would argue had a negative effect on the German’s predecessor Lee Westwood during his time at the summit of the rankings. Another major win this season would certainly put Kaymer into a position where he it would be realistic to envisage the 26-year old keeping his place as number one for a good while.

While some believe Kaymer’s game is far from suited to the Augusta course, there will be plenty who believe quality will always come good, and that is something that this exciting player has in abundance. Last year was good for Kaymer but this year could well be great.
