Aintree Hurdle Next Stop For Oscar

Following defeat to Big Buck’s in the World Hurdle, Oscar Whisky could well try a come back at Aintree in the beginning of next month. Dropping back to the 2m4f of the John Smith’s Aintree Hurdle should suit the Nicky Henderson trained horse better after failing to get the extra distance and finishing fifth at Cheltenham.

It seemed Oscar Whisky was set at two out to challenge Big Buck’s but simply ran out of stamina.

“The horse is fine and we’ll think about the race he won last year at Liverpool but I’ve yet to discuss a plan with Nicky.” Said Owner Dai Walters.
“On previous form with Overturn one has to think he’d have gone quite close in the Champion Hurdle, but we had to try the longer trip.”

Although disappointed at the World Hurdle, Henderson still had seven sins at Cheltenham and is now favourite to take the Jump Trainers Championship with Ladbrokes giving him odds of 8-15. Paul Nicholls dropped to 11-8 although he added the Champions and World Hurdle to his tally.
