Disappointment as two day festival at Kempton Park is cancelled due to continued cold weather…

The King George VI meeting at Kempton Park on Monday December 27 has been cancelled due to frost.

Tony McCoy was due to ride Kauto Star as Paul Nicholls’ four time King George champion went for a fifth title.

However, after the meeting was re-scheduled from Sunday, course officials decided that, following a two o’clock inspection, there is still too much frost on the track for racing to go ahead.

It had been hoped that conditions would improve sufficiently over the intervening 24 hours but it wasn’t to be as cold weather continues and the frost shows no sign of abating.

Punters will now have to wait until Saturday January 15 to see Kauto Star go for a record fifth King George triumph.
