“Simple Rhythm is another who was beaten for stamina last time”

We look to Wolverhampton’s twilight fixture for today’s Placepot payout…

15:55- Tislaam showed instant improvement upon joining Alan McCabe a few months ago, gaining back-to-back wins over 6f. His latest two outings have come at 7f, and on each occasion he has just seemed stretched for stamina. He comes back down in trip here, and holds good place claims. Simple Rhythm is another who was beaten for stamina last time, with 7f on testing ground at Yarmouth clearly too much for her. She did well in the circumstances that day, and had previously run a very encouraging race from a poor draw over today’s CD.

16:30- Kersivay became something of an enigma during last year’s all-weather season, and a first-time visor was required to persuade him to put his best foot forward in a Kempton handicap in March. He went without headgear when making his return from a six-month break last time, and shaped as if both in need of the run and the reapplication of headgear. Blinkers are on today, and he is capable of better in what looks a weak event. Irish Raider Under Review is the second selection in this apprentice race. The tongue tie looks to have done the trick for this strong-travelling gelding on his last two starts, and he ought to be thereabouts again today.

17:05- Pizzarra has shown good speed in maidens at 6f, producing her best effort when third at Redcar last time. She has a speedy pedigree, and the drop to a sharp 5f for her nursery debut may well bring about further progress. It may also be worth including Forty Proof, who ran well in some quite competitive maidens prior to breaking his duck at Bath last time (form franked by runner-up subsequently). He looks fairly well treated as he makes his handicap debut.

17:35- Towy Boy has found his niche over sprint trips on the all-weather, registering back-to-back wins over 5/6f earlier in the year. His ran well in third despite a coffin draw over CD on his penultimate start, and his latest run at Nottingham is probably best ignored. He has been holding his form well this year, and ought to finish in the money once more.

18:10- Muffraaj is the selection in this maiden. David Simcock’s juvenile improved substantially upon his debut when runner-up to a potentially useful two-year-old in Marden at Leciester last time, and a replication of that form would probably be sufficient for him to go close here.

18:40- All-weather regular Pipers Piping has been a model of consistency since fitted with cheekpieces, winning twice and finishing placed on five occasions prior to being left with plenty to do from a wide draw at Lingfield last week. The first-time visor may well have a positive effect today, and this Paul Howling-trained four-year-old has a strong place chance.
