Midday is looking to become the first horse to win this race for three consecutive years.

Crystal Capella has been lightly raced in recent seasons but took form to another level when running away with Princess Of Wales’s Stakes at Newmarket (1½m) earlier this month. Concern here is the drop in trip.

Field Day progressed into a pattern-race performer in 2010, ending campaign with a good fourth in Group 1 Prix de l’Opera. Below form in 3 runs this year though and looks well out of depth here.

Midday won 3 Group 1s in 2010, including this race for second year running. As good as ever when winning at York on return and excuses when bit below best in second last twice. Looks sure to go well.

Principal Role bagged listed fillies event at Newbury last year and improved on that form when winning similar event at Newcastle last month. Facing a much stiffer task here and very much the stable second string.

Snow Fairy is a hold-up performer with a good turn of foot whose 4 Group 1s in 2010 included the Oaks in Britain and Ireland. Will be all the better for return in the Eclipse and has to be feared back among own sex.

Barefoot Lady is much improved this term, winning Nell Gwyn on return. Good fifth in 1000 Guineas (unlucky in running) and placed since in Musidora and Coronation Stakes but has a fair bit to find against her elders.
