Handicap chases are the theme for Saturday

Killyglen was runner-up from a 2 lb higher mark in this race last year for Howard Johnson. He has twice been placed in handicap hurdles for his new yard this term and is a contender again if his jumping holds up back over fences.

Presenting Forever is a strong stayer who took advantage of a lenient mark when winning at Carlisle in October. He was an excellent second to Midnight Chase in a warm Cheltenham handicap last time and has to be respected here.

Beat The Boys was as good as ever, emerging best of the pace-setters, when runner-up at Sandown last month. He has claims on that, but his unpredictable nature means he is not one to place maximum faith in these days.

Ogee is a likeable sort who won three times over fences as a novice up to 3m last season. He was let down by his jumping when returning to the fray in November, though, and others are more convincing on the back of another break.

Meanus Dandy showed improved form in blinkers when winning 25f Wincanton handicap in November. He was under pressure when unseating over the National fences at Aintree next time, though, and others look better treated now.

Merigo enjoyed his finest hour when landing the Scottish National on his final start last season. He took a tumble over the National fences when last seen in November and others make more appeal on return.

Character Building ran his best race since 2008/9 when third in a 25f Aintree veterans’ event in October, but has generally struggled since, lacking his usual fluency at Ffos Las in February, and others are more persuasive at this time.

Ringaroses was resurgent for this yard last spring, posting a career best when following up a chase win in a 3m handicap hurdle at Aintree. He didn’t offer much on his return over hurdles, however.

Always Right left his winning form in points/hunters in his wake when landing a 2¾m Kelso handicap with plenty to spare last month. He ought to stay this far and is one to take seriously having his sights raised now.

Minella Four Star showed an excellent attitude second time up for this yard when chasing home Blazing Bailey in a well-contested 3½m Ffos Las handicap last month. He is bound to be on the premises if repeating that.

Lothian Falcon was a regular winner in his younger days. He shaped as if retaining his ability when fifth in a veterans’ handicap over 3m here recently. Cheekpieces are on now, but he looks up against it from 9 lb out of the weights here.
