Timeform’s Billy Nash gives you three recommendations for racing in Ireland on Wednesday…

Choose Me has a poor strike rate for one with her ability, but she can usually be relied upon to run her race and looks the most solid option in this particular contest”

Navan 2:15 – Place Lay – Mini Chou

As the only last-time-out winner in the field, Mini Chou is sure to attract some support in the opening apprentice handicap but the maiden she won at Dundalk last Friday was not a strong one and she looks to have plenty on her plate to even get placed on this occasion. Willie McCreery’s filly has yet to prove that she is as good on turf as on polytrack, she has finished no better than sixth on her two previous tries in handicaps and 10-1 is a lot of weight to have to carry on this sort of ground, especially for a three year old.

Navan 4:45 – Win and Place Back – Gleaming Silver

With form figures of 079905 Gleaming Silver is hardly one that leaps off the page as an obvious betting proposition in a big-field handicap. However, if one delves a little deeper into her form then there are plenty of reasons for believing that she is worth an interest. She didn’t really go on as expected last year having won a maiden at Leopardstown in May but she finished a close second in a pair of course-and-distance handicaps twelve months ago and has been dropped 8 lb by the handicapper since the start of the current campaign. She didn’t shape too badly, on ground that was probably a bit firmer than ideal, at Clonmel last time and the booking of Johnny Murtagh looks significant.

Navan 5:15 – Win Back – Choose Me

Choose Me has a poor strike rate for one with her ability, but she can usually be relied upon to run her race and looks the most solid option in this particular contest. She has finished in the frame on five of her eight starts this year, including when beaten just a short head and a head by Elenora Duse and She’s Our Mark in the Group 2 Blandford Stakes at the Curragh. She is versatile with regards to trip and ground and this represents a drop in class for her. Of the others; Mount Helicon looks vulnerable at this trip, Don Carlos has been disappointing in his two starts this year, whilst Mid Mon Lady is not the most consistent
