A fascinating card at Punchestown gets under way at 14:15

We have got three selections for the second part of Punchestown’s two-day meeting.

Arabella Boy, a promising fourth to Loosen My Load on his chasing debut here in May, gets the vote in what is an extremely well contested maiden chase (15.50)”

Pointilliste (14.45), representing the red-hot Noel Meade stable (13 winners already this month), looks worth an interest in a race which is long on quantity but short on quality. A five-time winner at up to two miles on the Flat in France for Elie Lellouche, he made a encouraging hurdling debut at Navan last month when a staying-on sixth to Oneeightofamile and should be suited by this longer trip. Rivage D’Or, who has just about the best hurdles form on offer, is likely to be sent off favourite but he doesn’t find a great deal off the bridle so an in-running lay of Davy Russell’s mount may also be a possibility.

Arabella Boy, a promising fourth to Loosen My Load on his chasing debut here in May, gets the vote in what is an extremely well contested maiden chase (15.50). Magnanimity, Bostons Angel, Definitive Edge and Gates of Rome are all interesting chasing debutants but experience counts for a lot in these contests at this time of the year and Arabella Boy jumped soundly on his initial effort in this sphere. That race has already thrown up plenty of winners and his trainer, Enda Bolger, was back amongst the winners at Galway on Sunday. Conditions will suit and he should be a bit of a price.

In stark contrast to the earlier maiden chase, the handicap due off at 16.55 isn’t a race to go overboard about but one with solid each-way credentials is Fine Call. She isn’t badly treated on the pick of her hurdles form having won a handicap at Cork in July off a mark 2 lb higher than the one she competes off here, and shaped quite well at a trip that seemed to stretch her here last time. She comes from a small yard that is going well at present, the booking of Paul Carberry catches the eye and Fine Call is less exposed than the majority of these.

Recommendations:

Punchestown 14:45 – Win Back – Pointilliste
Punchestown 15:50 – Win Back – Arabella Boy
Punchestown 16:55 – Win and Place Back – Fine Call
