“Mikey O’Connor’s representative (Island Peak) should be suited by the drop back in trip and looks to have solid each-way claims in a race that lacks depth”.
Clonmel is the sole meeting in Ireland today and we have three win selections.
Down In Neworleans (14.15) may not have quite delivered on the promise he showed in bumpers so far over hurdles, but this represents the easiest task he’s faced to date and he probably wouldn’t need to improve to come out on top. His best form in bumpers came on good ground or firmer, so there’s every chance he will prove suited by the drying ground and Danny Mullins is good value for his 3 lb claim.
Magen’s Star (14.45) looked a really exciting recruit to hurdling when making all at Thurles in November and this useful sort on the Flat looks to have been found a good opportunity by Tommy Stack to follow up. The daughter of Galileo slammed her opposition by 16 lengths in a mares maiden that day and theres every chance she will benefit from an easy lead this time, too.
Island Peak (16.45) won 3 points before showing ability in a bumper and a couple of hunters, travelling sweetly for a long way when fourth to Whysomayo at Thurles on his most recent start under Rules. Mikey O’Connor’s representative should be suited by the drop back in trip and looks to have solid each-way claims in a race that lacks depth.
