Timeform’s Billy Nash gives you three recommendations for racing in Ireland on Saturday…
“Araucaria rates as one of the most exciting novice hurdlers in Ireland for this season…”
3.00 Navan – Araucaria – win back
Araucaria rates as one of the most exciting novice hurdlers in Ireland for this season after a highly promising bumper campaign last year, winning twice, including a wide-margin success at Punchestown on New Year’s Eve, as well as finishing an unlucky fourth in a listed event at Aintree. She will relish this sort of trip over hurdles and the presence of Shop DJ and My Cool Lady should ensure that she goes off at a backable price.
3.50 Gowran – She’s Our Mark – back win and place
The incredibly tough and likeable mare She’s Our Mark has enjoyed another fine campaign, winning a listed race at the Curragh in April and a Group 3 at Cork in August, as well as running several cracking races in defeat, none more so than when beaten a short head in the Blandford Stakes last time. She has a good record at Gowran and should get an end-to-end gallop with Shareen and Lady Lupus in the field, so appeals as the likeliest winner, whilst it is very hard to see her being out of the three.
5.00 Gowran – Lime Tree Valley – win back
The presence of the in-form Northern Rocked and the enigmatic, but recent winner, Hawkhill should take a fair percentage out of the book for this handicap, and result in Lime Tree Valley going off at an attractive price. He was better than the bare result on his first two starts this year and again didn’t really get the rub of the green when a back-to-form third at Listowel recently, challenging from further back than ideal and denied a clear run. He’s off just a 1 lb higher mark now and this drop back to a mile should suit.
