Today’s only Irish meeting comes on the polytrack at Dundalk.

Liberty Island (18:30) rarely runs a bad race around Dundalk, isn’t at all badly handicapped on recent efforts and now has leading apprentice Joseph O’Brien taking off what could well prove to be an invaluable 5 lb. He admittedly has to reverse form with Flash McGahon from his latest run here, but he faces his optimum conditions, is in better form than the majority of his rivals and the aforementioned claim of his young rider is taken to prove the difference.

License to Till (20:30) isn’t an obvious one to want to oppose in this competitive handicap, successful on two of his last four starts and from a stable that have been enjoying an excellent time of things with its raids to this track. However, he looks vulnerable from an ITC mark of 88 and his trainer’s recent record could well mean he’s sent off a shorter price than he’s entitled to be. Several in opposition come into this with strong recent handicap form to their name, notably Sugar Baby Love and Cul A Dun, so it could prove profitable to oppose License to Till in the place market.

Don Carlos (21:25) looks by some way the most progressive individual in the closing minor event and this well-bred son of Galileo should be capable of following up his Navan win in what looks a pretty ordinary contest. Progressive at two, Don Carlos finally got his season back on track with a dominant success there earlier this month, easily accounting for Choose Me by one and a quarter lengths, and with the yard seemingly pushing Joseph’s bid towards the apprentice championship, little should be read into the jockey bookings.
