Two of our bets today come from Lingfield

“Mic Aubin has won both a bumper and a point off a break previously so the 188 days off the track should hold no fears.”

Today’s Follow The Money movers come from the meetings at Lingifeld and Fontwell where punters have been getting stuck in to the betting so far

We start at Lingfield where Dubai Queen has been well supported to win the 13:40, a seven furlong maiden stakes, for the Luca Cumani team. She has been matched for good money at [4.4] and now trades at [2.48].

This half sister to top-class miler Dubawi made a pleasing debut 17 days ago at Kempton over 6 furlongs. Having started slowly, she ran wide turning in, but stayed on well in the closing stages looking like a horse who was just beginning to understand her job. She steps up a furlong in trip today and this race appears ready for the taking with improvement near enough guaranteed judging by the money.

There’s been some good money for Mic Aubin in Fontwell’s 16:30, a long distance novice hurdle. The gelding makes his debut for Giles Smyly after a successful spell pointing and hunter chasing, and we have seen some strong money so far today – he trades at [7.4] from a high of [12.5]. He has won both a bumper and a point off a break previously so the 188 days off the track should hold no fears. He appear to come out well on ratings based on his unfortunate run in a novice hurdle at Newton Abbot where the race (of a much higher standard than today) looked at his mercy but the saddle slipped and he unseated his rider at the last. A repeat of that run, without the mishap, will surely see him go very close.

We return to Lingfied now for today’s lay bet and there has been a steady drift on Paphos in the 17:10, a seven furlong apprentice handicap, having gone from a low of [2.5] out to [2.94].

This course and distance winner won two starts back to notch up a quick fire double, both of which came off the same mark in a shrewd bit of a placing from his trainer. He now races off 7lbs higher however and after struggling to land any sort of blow at Wolverhampton last time out he looks held off his current mark and well worth taking on at the current prices. Opposition is the hardest thing to come by with this race though, with the well-backed Mighty Aphrodite expected to run a big race despite having shown little. Along with a couple of others though, who have dropped to appealing marks, Paphos looks worth taking on at a short price.
