AS Britain plunges into the winter the Follow The Money team go all out on the National Hunt action
“Hockenheim’s trainer has been sparing with runners and entries all year and a win today would give the stable a fourth win and two seconds from 13 runners.”
All three of today’s movers come from the meeting at Carlisle, where the going is testing and will be key.
Douglas Julian came good last time in soft ground at Hexham, winning by three lengths with the field behind him strung out like pylons. A 7lb rise throws him into the middle of the handicap at 13:55 but good recent form is hard to find amongst the opposition and, despite some interest in the betting for one or two, the favourite has been solid on the exchange, edging from [2.3] in to [2.1].
Backers looking for a bigger price have been latching on to Hockenheim in the following race, 14:25. Early offers around [13.0] have been snapped up and he now stands at a price of [7.8] , a movement mirrored by the traditional bookmakers. His trainer has been sparing with runners and entries all year and a win today would give the stable a fourth win and two seconds from 13 runners.
Our negative today runs in the last race at 16:05. Fair Spin has been drifting, from an early price of [2.54] out to [3.0]. He won last time (and the time before) but with extra weight to haul across the heavy ground today, doubters seem willing enough to take him on.
