Follow The Money to Cheltenham and Newcastle

“Pamak D’Airy has been all the rage this morning, shortening from [11.0] to [6.2].”

Today’s Follow The Money movers come from the meetings at Cheltenham and Newcastle.

We start at Newcastle where, in the opener at 12:35, there has been solid support for Flinty Bay who is currently trading at [3.7] from an early [5.6]. This five-year-old gelding had a pleasing racecourse outing last season when third in what turned out to be a strong bumper at Ayr and followed that up by being beaten by just two on his hurdles bow last month. Whilst Flinty Bay’s jumping that day was sketchy at times, he will have learned from the experience and with Nicky Richards runners coming on for their first run, he should go close today.

Staying at Newcastle for our second selection, Pamak D’Airy in the 14.15 has been all the rage this morning and shortened from [11.0] in to [6.2]. It usually pays to follow the money where the Harry Hogarth stable is concerned and whilst there are some questions to be answered about his runner, the same issue applies to all bar the favourite for this race, Primrose Time. The one major thing going for Pamak D’Airy is the fact that he has a record of two wins and one place from three outings at the track and with that in mind it is not a total surprise to see today’s money.

Our final selection comes at Cheltenham where, in the finale at 16.05, Time For Rupert has drifted in trading from [3.3] out to [4.2]. The lack of confidence is, in all probability, down to the fact that handler Paul Webber has publicly stated that the six-year-old will not only come on substantially for the run but that connections have dropped him back in trip because they do not want him having too hard a race at the first time of asking. With several other top class horses in the field, it is not difficult to see why Time For Rupert is so weak.
