England may change things in Mumbai

England will be looking to draw their four match Test series with India level from Friday when the second Test gets underway from Mumbai.

It was an all too familiar situation that the Three Lions found themselves in at Ahmedabad in the first encounter as their inability to play spin in Asian conditions cost them and they were beaten comfortably by nine wickets.

Despite a second innings revival led by captain Alistair Cook, the tourist’s were not able to save the game and now face a huge challenge if they are to end the 28 year wait for a series win in India.

Cook’s men are now out at 16/1 with some bookmakers to turn this series on its head and they know another defeat here would end their chance of a victory.

The new England captain always knew what a tough series this was going to be and now he is sure to sit down with Head Coach Andy Flower and the selectors to decide what team to put out for these crucial five days in Mumbai.

You can back England taking this second Test at 5/1, so there is no doubt that they are the big outsiders once more. The selectors may make a few changes for this one and some are crying out for the touring team to play a second spinner and bring Monty Panesar into the side.

Spin plays such a big part in these conditions and Samit Patel did look as though he was only occupying one end to give the seamers a rest, rather than causing a big threat.

If Panesar does come in, you can bet on him being England’s top blower at 9/1, which could be fantastic value when you consider his record in India.

It should be a thrilling few days of top quality cricket in Mumbai.
