Can Minella Rocco Upstage Blaklion At The Grand National?

The 2018 Grand National takes place on Sunday 14 April and is the most popular horse racing event in the yearly calendar.

Hosted at Aintree Racecourse, near Liverpool, this edition will be the 171st race in existence and attracts a huge audience, as well as punters from across the country, many put a bet on the Grand National as their one and only bet of the year.

Blaklion heads into the world famous steeplechase as the 10/1 favourite currently with Betfair’s Sportbook.  The British horse won at Aintree back in December in its latest race to date and looks like the most solid horse in this event for several years.

Cheltenham is less than four weeks away and Minella Rocco is heading to Aintree in good shape.  The seven-year-old has some excellent staying form in the book.  The second favourite is currently priced at 14/1 placed in the Gold Cup last year and has been in fine form since the end of the season.

Minella Rocco stays forever and the race looks tailor made for the Irish horse, but it may just come up short against Blaklion.  Others are expecting Total Recall to be the third favourite when the race starts next month – currently joint-third favourite with both The Last Samurai and Definitely Red at 16/1.
